(More customer reviews)Unless I am missing something (and no instructions are supplied), you are supposed to unbend the two metal rings that are supplied, insert them around the plastic piece in the grooved sections and use a pair of pliers to squeeze the rings, locking the plastic piece closed around your broken cable. However, I could not get the rings tight enough to get the device to work properly, so I used two cable ties to seal the plastic part shut. Since this required a hack, I don't consider the product to be of good value at $20. Your options may be limited, though as there weren't many substitutes on the market--just get the cable ties and you'll be fine.
