I had a recurring problem with fuel leakage around the cap seal on the diesel fuel bowl.
I replaced the seal with a ford kit ($54.) and a couple of months later, it started leaking again.
The smell was terrible inside the cab as the fuel leaked down over the hot engine.
And then there is the possibility of fire. I believe the problem is caused by the old rubber parts not
being compatible with the new diesel fuels. Ford will never tell you when they redesign a problem
part. They just keep selling you the old trash untill they run out and the new parts take their place.
I found that out the hard way when I was going thru a clutch master cylinder every 25000 miles.
Ford had redesigned the bad check valve seal two years before, but kept selling the old stock.
It wasn't untill I screamed loud that a tech service guy finally gave me the number of the new part.
I ordered this fuel bowl cap and seal just to get the new rubber ring but was happy to see that this company
redesigned the cap and the seal. I replaced both parts several months ago and have no more leaks.
Good for you AFE!
