In all fairness to Innovate Motorsports, I figured I should update my review to note that the LogWorks 3.0 SDK is now available.
ORIGINAL:
I generally do not like to leave negative reviews but I feel people need to be aware of a few issues with this product. Originally, I was looking at the generally well-received LC-1 that Innovate Motorsports manufactures. I decided that I didn't want to hardwire anything into my car and figured the LM-2 would allow me to take readings from more than one vehicle as well.
I use RomRaider to datalog and while it supports the LC-1 and LM-1, it doesn't support the new LM-2. Since RomRaider is open-source, I was hoping to write a plugin by using Innovate's LogWorks 3.0 SDK. Unfortunately, while LogWorks 3.0 has been released, the SDK has not and questions regarding its availability have repeatedly gone unanswered. This product was released over a year ago and still no SDK! In my opinion, that is unacceptable.
To make matters worse, many LM-2 owners seem to be having a problem acquiring a decent/stable RPM signal and also experience frequent lock-ups while datalogging. I have experienced a few lockups while simply using the LM-2 to log straight O2 info. In all fairness to Innovate Motorsports, they have released new firmware to *attempt* to address the issues but there are still outstanding problems.
I highly recommend that potential customers visit the Innovate Motorsports forum first before purchasing a LM-2.
If I had to do it over, I would have gone with a LC-1 or a PLX SM-AFR. The LM-2 has a lot of potential but, so far, lack of support and unfixed bugs have really detracted from the usefulness of this product.
