(More customer reviews)After the thermal type 4WD actuator in my 1994 K3500 GMC pickup failed, I decided to try this motorized type. The only problem is that it doesn't plug directly into the older type wiring harnesses - you also need to buy a separate harness because this actuator requires another 12 volt hot lead. The older thermal actuators had power to them in 4WD mode, then released with power was discontinued. These actuators are a motor which requires power in both directions.
After checking with my local GM dealers, these actuators were about $150 or more, plus the new wiring harness was another $80! This was way too expensive. I found this Dorman actuator was locally about $110, but the amazon price was down near $60 for the same exact part - what a bargain!
Unfortunately amazon didn't have the wiring harness, but I was able to find one on ebay, new for only $35. So now I have a reliable 4WD system and it only cost about a hundred bucks. It was a good investment.
