The quality control of this Airtex must be horrible, I went through 2 of this part #E7142M for a 2002 Dodge Neon before switching to a Delphi assembly. Due to the problems these pumps had they actually caused my catalytic converter's catalyst to melt! For starters, neither assembly could read my fuel level correctly, and they weren't even consistent with the wrongness. The issue that caused my catalytic converter failure has to do with the fuel pressure of the assembly. The assembly includes the regulator, but it may has well not of been there because the pressure was much too high for my Neon (verified with a gauge), which caused unburned fuel to ignite in the catalytic converter, causing the catalyst to melt. Also, both pumps had a loud high-pitch whine that could be heard in the cabin. Again, steer clear of this pump assembly.
