(More customer reviews)Gas door came quite promptly from Pilot/Amazon. It was [...]$, free shipping. If you are looking for this item, you will probably not beat that price anywhere. .. I know, I looked for a couple of hours. It is not bad quality, but it does not fit the gas door opening on my 2008 Dodge 3500 with a nice flush appearance. I was disappointed with that and was a bit frustrated trying to install it last evening with the mediocre directions and failing sunlight inside the barn. I felt like packaging it back up and shipping it back. Butttt. .. That would cost me to ship it back and I thought I better give it another try. Things looked better in the daylight, with the truck outside. I figured out that the directions are less than professional ( I speak from 12 years as a technical writer who has written sophisticated Jet Engine Electronics Maintenance Manuals for the Military). I took it upon myself to install the locking gas door using my own head and feelings. I used three of the mounting screws (because one of them did not line up with the holes in the sheet metal of the truck)to mount the door on the Dodge. The installation looks about 85%, it is not flush, because the gas door needs to have a 1/4 inch bevel machined on the back outer rim of the frame to fit properly in the dodge. I will do this at a later date to make it fit nicely instead of sticking up about 3/32 of an inch at the back. This product has possibilities and the price encourages me to work with it. That is why I still own it. If you want a gas door that fits better than this, you might try the dealership where you bought your truck. That will not be cheap, but it will look fine as can be. Life is a compromise and we all have to learn how to make compromises, or do a little customization to fix what someone else did not to make something as good as we want it to be. In short, I bought it, I liked the price and It will do what I want it to do. I just would not want someone to believe that it is as simple as is implied in the advertisement for it. Incidently, I had to hunt for this door on Amazon, as it does not have an application guide that says it is for a 2008 Dodge 3500, but another listing for it (much higher price plus shipping)did have an application guide that qualified it for the 2008 Dodge 3500. Same item, cross checked it by Bully part number on several websites and purchased it from Amazon to get the best price. Guess I will do the modification I spoke about when the weather gets warmer. Will remove the gas door assembly, bed it in putty where it fits and use this information to grind a bevel on the outer perimeter of the assembly to custom fit it to the Gas door opening of the 2008 Dodge 3500. Now you all know what I had to learn the last few days about this item. Best of luck if you choose to buy one. It has potential.
Regards, Pag
