BEST THING: The part from the box was a real Denso, Japanese labeled idle air valve, identical to the one the came original equipment on my truck. So this didn't appear to be an after-market part (Your experience may vary). And the price is as good as any I've seen for an after-market part from other sources.
If your vehicle doesn't idle at the proper speed (750 rpm when warm), stalls sometimes when started cold, idles very slowly when warm after a short stop (such as getting gas), and/or periodically gives you 'check engine light' faults that clear after a couple engine starts, you probably need to replace the idle air control valve. My experience is life expectancy for this part is about 80,000 miles.
At this price, I recommend buying a new idle air control valve, rather than fiddling with trying to clean the old one. I've cleaned and later replaced these valves on a couple cars over the past 25 years. My conclusion is that in addition to getting dirty, they wear and cleaning only gets you a few months further use. For the amount of work it takes to get this off the engine in a Toyota Tacoma truck, it is better to just replace it.
