(More customer reviews)My 2005 GMC crew cab Z71 has been the shop a few times for idling issues. After multiple fuel system cleanings, mass airflow cleaning and lectures from the shop staff, I purchased the volant system. Immediately the truck idled without hesitation. The 5800 pound trucks gets up and moves with ease, passing is nothing, and heavy loads seem to pull easier. No difference in highway mileage though. At 65 always averaged 22.5-22.8, no change. In town with the a/c on used to be a measily 11.4 and now hits 13.1. That I can live with. The increased sound is just a great biproduct of more air moving through the system.
As for install, my 18 year old son had it up and running within 40 minutes. He spent more time looking for things we dropped than putting it together. By the way, do not jump steps as we learned. We had to take things back apart so the next step could happen! Rated it a 4 because they want it oiled every 12K while other brands can push it up to 50-100K before cleaning. Looks great!
