So far so good with the AFE diesel fuel filter. This filter is being used on a 1997 Ford 7.3 litre Powerstroke. One of the nice features is the integrated cap. The integrated/attached cap makes it easier to "drop" the filter into the fuel bowl. I've only put about 1000 miles on this filter but since fuel systems vary as far as cleanliness goes the filter will only "last" until the fuel restriction light comes on but I must suggest changing the fuel filter as your vehicle manufacturer recommends. The other thing to consider is bad fuel or biodiesel fuel. I'm guessing a bad bad batch of fuel could cause the filter to clog much sooner than expected. Also, Biodiesel can loosen up gunk and sludge within the fuel system and tanks which can lead to premature clogging. I suggest keeping at least a couple spare filters, especially on a road trip. I've seen some auto stores charge 30 to 40 dollars for a filter which I consider lesser quality. I am a fan of synthetics which AFE claims this element to be. There are filters out there for either less or more money. I will buy this filter again and keep some spares in stock.
